T&T Construction Management Group, Inc., a woman-owned premier concrete specialty contractor, is moving ahead at the ground-up Highlands Elementary School, which replaces another school on the same site. Current Highland students will attend Duvall County Public Schools’ nearby Martin Luther King Jr. campus for the 2023-2024 school year as the construction, scheduled to be completed next August, is underway. CPPI is the general contractor, and Zyscovich is the architect.
The new school is meant to consolidate students from the current Highland and Pine Estates elementary schools under one roof. The new Highlands Elementary School will offer modern music and art rooms in addition to more traditional classrooms.
T&T is honored to have been chosen by CPPI and has experience working with architect Zyscovich on the new Highlands Elementary. T&T Business Development Manager Ryan McDavid said working with firms such as Zyscovich makes these school projects even more successful. Zyscovich is based in Orlando but has offices in Tampa, West Palm Beach, and Jacksonville.
“We share the same goal, which is to provide the teachers, administrators, and students at Duvall County Public Schools a new campus they can be proud of,” McDavid said. “It helps that the new Highlands Elementary will exist on the same site as the old school—so, in a way, when we’re finished next summer, the students will essentially ‘return’ to a familiar place, with an amazing modern new school they can take pride in.”
The construction work is being funded by a 0.05 penny sales tax program whose proceeds are meant to bankroll new school construction throughout Duvall County.
