Spending time with Christina Pickett, Global Franchise Group

Christina Pickett, Global Franchise Group

The construction manager for Global Franchise Group on trying to maintain the same routine, shipping local craft beers to share for virtual happy hour and why be polite is not so bad.
What is the most cherished item in your home office?
The most cherished item is my son’s first note. He was learning how to write and wrote “Mommy I love You” all by himself. He was proud. I have it on my bulletin board.
What is the office item you cannot do without?
I would have to say my AirPods. I multitask too much to not be hands free
What is the background noise that plays as the soundtrack in your office?
Right now, it is my son singing along to Linkin Park or Jason Aldean while running around the house doing Ninja moves.
What does your typical work day look like?
I’m trying to keep some consistency going. I get up, get ready, work out, and get some phone calls and emails out of the way before “school” starts for my son. Then, it is a matter of balancing “teacher,” mom (with always a daily game of chess or two) and construction manager for the rest of the day.
How are you staying connected with your team? Customers?
Zoom meetings and FaceTime have been extremely helpful, especially when you can’t get on a job site right now.
Name the band you cannot take off your playlist.
I can’t pick just one. I have such a wide genre of music from country, hip hop, ’80’s rock, alternative and EDM.
Favorite binge watching series right now?
I just finished “Ozark” and “Tiger King” — I had to see what the hype was about. Now I am on to “Waco.”
Favorite comfort food?
Anything that is considered a dessert
Biggest influence on your life?
I would probably have to say my Dad. I’m always told my work ethic, drive and dedication always came from him.
Best advice you ever received?
Adapt and overcome.
What trait do you most admire?
Honesty.
What advice would you give your younger self?
Don’t be so cautious. Take more risks. Don’t be afraid to not be so polite.
Have you tried the virtual happy hour yet?
Yes and it is great. We have even shipped select local beers to one another and enjoyed them during the happy hour.
What is the first thing you are going to do when you are able to get back to some sense of normalcy?
I have vacation in Hawaii planned for the summer. I hope by then things will be “normal” enough to enjoy the beach, pool, drinks and the food.
