Propane Pioneer Celebrates 90th Anniversary

Suburban Propane Partners, L.P., (NYSE:SPH), a nationwide distributor of propane, fuel oil and related products and services, as well as a marketer of natural gas and electricity, proudly celebrating 90 years of innovation, growth and quality service.
Industry Pioneers
Since the concept of using propane as a portable heating source was born in 1928 by its visionary founder in a small New Jersey town, Suburban Propane and its predecessor companies have been committed to delivering outstanding customer service to the communities served. In 1945, under the name Suburban Propane Gas Corporation, Suburban Propane became the first stock exchange listed public propane distributor in the United States. After several transformations, Suburban Propane again emerged as a publicly-traded Master Limited Partnership (“MLP”) listed on the New York Stock Exchange in 1996, and today is one of the oldest existing MLPs. Throughout its now nine decades of serving customers nationwide, Suburban Propane has maintained its high standards for safety, integrity and customer satisfaction.
Vision and Growth
From its roots as a small neighborhood business, Suburban Propane has grown into a nationwide distributor with a vast network of more than 650 locations in 41 states. Today, Suburban Propane is the third largest retail propane provider in the United States, serving the energy needs of approximately 1.0 million residential, commercial, industrial and agricultural customers.
A Team of Local Members of the Community
The more than 3,200 employees of Suburban Propane are proud members of every community they serve. Suburban Propane’s long-term commitment to giving back to its local communities led to the creation of an in-house initiative called SuburbanCares™, which encourages and supports Suburban Propane’s employees in their efforts to serve their customers and communities. Since 2012, Suburban Propane has partnered with the American Red Cross as a national sponsor – volunteering time, and donating blood and much needed supplies to support the American Red Cross and their lifesaving endeavors.
Commenting on this important milestone for Suburban Propane, President and Chief Executive Officer Michael A. Stivala said, “Suburban Propane has a long and proud tradition of being intensely focused on delivering the highest quality service to our customers. One critical business motto that has helped shape our core operating philosophy over the years has been a simple, yet poignant phrase: “Our Business is Customer Satisfaction.” Our business is well positioned to continue our tradition of being an industry leader, and to pursue our next phase of growth.”
