Here Are Useful Tools That You Need To Have At Home

There are always going to be jobs around the home that need to be fixed, whether that is fixing a leak, repairing a door hinge, or even something as simple as hanging some pictures. When the day comes for imminent repairs and odd jobs you will want to be prepared. The key to being prepared is not to have all the tools in the world, but instead, a few tools that you know are reliable and multifunctional.
Here are five useful tools that you need to have at home.

1.   A Power Drill

A power drill is undoubtedly one of the most useful tools you can own! It is multifunctional and can be used for bigger jobs, such as when the screwdrivers are not cutting it. With a power drill, you can use this to easily drill in or remove screws into harder surfaces. There are an abundance of different tools to choose from, and if you are unsure, consider using Homeholds to help you work out which power drill is most appropriate for you and your home. You can opt for either a corded or cordless drill and use it for repairs and DIY projects.

2.   An Extension Cord

This may seem like a trivial item to have at home, however, owning a durable extension cord is important and will come in handy in the most unexpected times. There is nothing more frustrating than needed to use a power tool in a place where you can’t get power, for example in the garden. This is where the extension cord comes into play as you can use this to reach power from inside the house. So next time you need to mow the lawn or trim the hedges, you’ll have the power you need.

3.   A Step Ladder

Owning a step ladder can come in handy more frequently than you might think. Whether it is needed to change a lightbulb, dust in high up places or to clean above the cupboards, a step ladder is necessary for all of these jobs. Instead of risking injury by climbing on boxes or a rickety chair, opt for a sturdy and easy to store away step ladder.

4.   A Torch

You never know when you are going to need a torch, but when the moment arrives you are going to be really grateful that you have one. Torches are useful in many contexts, for example in a power outage, repairs in darker places, or for looking under furniture and so on. It is worth investing in a durable and powerful torch for those ‘just in case’ scenarios. Also, make sure it is loaded with batteries and that you have spare batteries to hand so you don’t get caught out.

5.   A Set Of Screwdrivers

Having a set of screwdrivers in your home is essential. Make sure you get a set that includes both flatheads and Phillips, ideally in a few different sizes. That way you can deal with jobs big or small regardless of the head they require.

With those five useful tools at home, you will be prepared for any job, big or small!
