Barnes & Noble has indicated it will back away from a plan launched in 2016 to create in-store restaurants to drive traffic and repeat visits. The retailer's five restaurants have driven higher sales but they haven't proved profitable, largely because running restaurants is outside the company's area of expertise. Read the Quartz story here
