Kimmel Architecture Marks Three Major Project Milestones

Kimmel Architecture, a nationally recognized architecture and interior design firm, announced three major project milestones this week: the reopening of Rowan University’s renovated Keith & Shirley Campbell Library, progress on Overbrook School for the Blind’s campus expansion and a new master planning engagement with Founding Forward.

Rowan University: On September 16, Rowan University celebrated the reopening of the Keith & Shirley Campbell Library at its Glassboro campus location, following a two-year, full interior renovation led by Kimmel Architecture. The project reimagines the library as a flexible, student-centered academic destination, with spaces for both individual and group study, expanded opportunities for collaboration, and a dedicated virtual reality classroom. Together, the improvements support evolving approaches to teaching, learning and research while renewing a central resource for the Rowan community.

Overbrook School for the Blind: On September 17, Overbrook School for the Blind in Philadelphia, P.A., marked an important milestone in its Taking Flight Capital Campaign. Kimmel Architecture completed a campus-wide master plan and comprehensive needs analysis for Overbrook’s historic 22-acre campus, evaluating current needs and establishing a coordinated framework for future improvements. Kimmel Architecture looks forward to supporting the next phase of the campus’s evolution, including development of a new dining facility designed to advance Overbrook’s long-term mission and serve its community.

Founding Forward: On September 18, Kimmel Architecture began a master planning, renovation and additions project for Founding Forward’s 75-acre Valley Forge campus. Founding Forward is a national 501(c)(3) nonprofit charity, dedicated to immersive civic education and the renewal of responsible American citizenship through visits to historical sites, programs and workshops aimed at students and educators. Kimmel’s Extraordinary Solution will include renovation of three dormitories, a dining hall, educational, residential and recreational spaces with an overall goal of increasing capacity for Founding Forward’s educational programs. The work will also preserve the historic character of the Martha Washington Building while adapting key facilities to better support Founding Forward’s civic education mission.

“Each of these projects reflects a distinct institutional mission, yet all three share a common goal: creating thoughtful, adaptable environments that better serve their communities,” said Martin Kimmel, AIA, NCARB, co-founder and President of Kimmel Architecture. “We are proud to help Rowan University, Overbrook School for the Blind and Founding Forward build on their legacies while preparing their campuses for the future.”

These milestones reflect Kimmel Architecture’s commitment to thoughtful planning and design that responds to each institution’s mission, community and physical setting. Across the three projects, the firm is helping create welcoming, forward-looking environments that support learning, accessibility and civic education while respecting the history and character of each campus.
