Bolon Expands BKB, A Woven Flooring Collection Rooted in Craft

Bolon, the Swedish design company known for high performance woven flooring, introduces the latest evolution of BKB, now available in North America through Matter Surfaces. This update brings renewed focus to one of Bolon’s most established and iconic product lines, aligning its materiality and performance with the needs of today’s contract environments.

First introduced in 1993, BKB was Bolon’s first woven flooring offering and remains a cornerstone of the brand’s portfolio. Defined by a restrained palette of neutrals, including beige, grey, brown,
and black, it continues to provide a flexible foundation across workplace and hospitality interiors.
The latest update introduces four new sisal-inspired colorways that build on the product’s signature texture while expanding its range. Sisal Umber, Sisal Loam, Sisal Fawn, and Sisal Dune add
warmth and depth, giving designers more flexibility when working with layered, tonal schemes.

At the core of BKB is Bolon’s proprietary weaving technique using folded yarn. This process creates a structured, textile-like surface with a refined, sisal-inspired look while maintaining the durability
required for high-traffic settings. The result is a material that supports both performance and atmosphere across a variety of commercial environments.
“BKB is a beautiful classic flooring collection, a great choice for long-lasting interior architecture. With some new design attention to colors and contemporary interior settings, the collection will
continue to add a perfect mélange textile structure to our product portfolio for years to come” says Klara Persson, Design Director
at Bolon.

Available in rolls, tiles, and rugs, BKB supports a range of installation strategies, from seamless large-scale layouts to more defined, modular applications. Its subtle texture and tonal variation allow it to integrate easily into both contemporary and residential-driven spaces.
Sustainability remains central. Bolon flooring contains approximately 68% recycled material and is manufactured in Sweden using renewable energy. Products from non-permanent installations
can be returned and reintroduced into production as part of the company’s circular approach.
In North America, Matter Surfaces serves as the exclusive distributor of Bolon, providing product access along with specification support for architects, designers, and end users.
