Following Illinois’ legalization of recreational cannabis use and sales as of Jan. 1, 2020, Englewood Construction is working with existing medical cannabis dispensary The Herbal Care Center to renovate its facility to accommodate recreational sales through Custom Strains. Located in Chicago at 1301 S. Western Ave. in the Illinois Medical District, the Custom Strains dispensary will begin recreational sales later this spring. Chicago-based Studio ARQ is the project architect.
In addition, Englewood partnered with Chicago-based Green Thumb Industries (GTI) to build two new Rise-branded medical cannabis dispensaries that both opened in Q4 2019. In King of Prussia, Pa., Englewood completed a facility located at 446 W. Dekalb Pike, and in Lakewood, Ohio, the Englewood team built out a medical dispensary at 11818 Madison Ave. The Arlington Heights, Ill. office of GreenbergFarrow was the architect for both projects.
In Pasadena, Md., the construction company has completed the renovation of a former restaurant for a medical cannabis dispensary that was opened in Q4 2019 by Verano Holdings, Inc. The new Oceanside Cannabis location is located at 16 Magothy Beach Road. Hawthorn Woods, Ill.-based Psenka Architects Inc., was the project architect.
