VMZINC^®-US, the international brand name of rolled zinc products manufactured and sold by the Building Products Unit of the Umicore group, has announced that Marketing Assistant, Chandra Hester, has been appointed to the 2015 North Carolina Modernist Houses (NCMH) Advisory Council. NCMH is an award-winning nonprofit organization dedicated to documenting, preserving and promoting modernist residential design across North Carolina.
The 2015 NCMH Advisory Council consists of a multitalented group of 21 individuals selected from across various disciplines, including architecture, real estate, construction, law, financing and historic preservation. During their one-year terms, council members are responsible for supporting and improving NCMH’s programming and providing input on NCMH projects, events, presentations and fundraising initiatives.
North Carolina has more than 1,300 modernist houses, which is more than any other area in the United States except for Los Angeles and Long Island, New York. A modern design aesthetic is characterized by features such as open interior floor plans, vaulted ceilings, large and numerous windows, flat or low pitched roofs, long exposed beams, extensive use of glass to bring in natural light and aesthetic geometric forms.
