Play Street Museum, a Texas-based national children’s museum franchise, has signed a five-year lease to open its first Midwest location in St. Charles.
Play Street Museum is an interactive museum specifically designed for children eight and under to explore, play and learn through various miniature playscape. Each location features a unique theme to represent the neighborhood.
The franchise’s creative concept and success has earned a spot in USA Today’s “Top 10 Awesome Museums for Families to Explore in the Dallas Area.”
Owner of Play Street Museum St. Louis, Nicole Simon, stated, “Our favorite thing about Play Street Museum is it gives kids a space to be independent, unplug, and use their imaginations. We hope to bring PLAY to the St. Louis area and we know St. Charles is the perfect place to start.”
Co-owner Kellie Geraghty elaborates, “It is not a typical children’s museum—because of our smaller size, children can be independent while their parents can relax knowing the kids are exploring and learning in a safe place.”
Rebecca Thessen with Hilliker Corporation represented the tenant, and Cullinan Properties represented the landlord.
“As soon as I heard the concept, I knew the parents in St. Louis were in for a treat,” Thessen said. “We knew we had to find a space that has a family-friendly environment and can provide the right amount of footprint, so not only will the kids have enough space to have fun and explore, but they will still remain within eyesight from their parents.”
In addition to the museum’s regular activities, Play Street also hosts various special events, ranging from tea parties to painting to story time, as well as private birthday parties on the weekends.
The new 2,400-square-foot location anticipates opening in February of 2019. The family-friendly museum will be located at 1650 Beatle Street, right next to the new Mission Taco Joint that opened last year in Streets of St. Charles.
