Transwestern‘s corporate headquarters office in Houston received LEED Silver certification from the U.S. Green Building Council (USGBC) in Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) for Commercial Interiors. Transwestern renovated 58,008 square feet between three floors. Construction began in June 2013 and was completed in March 2014. The new design reduced lighting usage by 0.15 watts per square foot, or approximately 22,500 kWh per year. This reduction results in $2,250 approximate savings per year on lighting, before accounting for the occupancy sensors that reduce the daytime load.
