Between March 2012 and March 2013, 152 of 339 metropolitan areas added construction jobs, with Dallas and Houston taking the top two spots in total numbers of jobs added. Meanwhile, 126 urban centers – including Chicago, Detroit and Cincinnati – lost jobs, and 61 showed no significant gains or losses, based on an analysis by the Associated General Contractors of America. Percentage-wise, Pascagoula, Miss., increased its construction workforce by 47 percent – the greatest increase – while Monroe, Mich., saw a contraction of 19 percent, the greatest decrease.
