The Florida Panthers IceDen has selected Stellar to renovate one of the facility’s three ice sheets and install an associated refrigeration system. The new refrigeration system will utilize Opteon™, the NHL’s official refrigerant solution developed by The Chemours Company, a Stellar partner.
The Jacksonville-based firm will demolish and replace the floor pad of the facility’s mezzanine ice sheet. The refrigeration system serving two sheets, including the pad being renovated, will be upgraded to an Opteon™ Air-Cooled system.
The Panthers IceDen is a 125,000-square-foot multi-use facility that serves as the official practice location of the NHL’s Florida Panthers, in addition to hosting local club and recreational hockey teams and figure skaters.
The $1.2 million project broke ground in September 2020 and is expected to be completed by March 2021.
In addition to demolishing the old floor pad, Stellar will be self-performing the engineering, design and installation of the new floor pad and refrigeration system.
Of the Panthers IceDen’s three sheets, two will remain open during the project as the third is renovated. During the four-week period when the refrigeration room is replaced, only one rink will be open to the public. The Florida Panthers IceDen is located at 3299 Sportsplex Drive in Coral Springs, Florida.
