Construction is now complete at the manufacturing warehouse for Rulon International, a leading manufacturer of wood ceilings and acoustical wall systems.
Stellar, a firm providing award-winning construction management at-risk, design-build and general contracting services for a range of commercial and public sector markets, was the design-builder for the $3.3-million expansion project. The firm first began construction on the warehouse at 2000 Ring Way in June 2018.
Rulon needed to expand its manufacturing and storage warehouse to accommodate its growing business. Stellar designed and constructed a 26,559-square-foot addition, bringing the total warehouse space to 91,876 square feet. The Stellar team also created additional parking, growing the total number of parking spaces from 39 to 204.
“Our goal was to create an addition that looked seamless, but the existing building wasn’t designed to expand in that direction,” said John Bowles, Division Manager for Stellar’s Commercial Group. “To overcome this challenge, our team installed a post-shoring system to support the roof, allowing us to move forward with construction without disrupting Rulon’s day-to-day operations.”
In addition, Stellar designed a custom underground stormwater solution by rerouting new stormwater piping and partially utilizing existing piping. This eliminated the need to excavate the main office driveway, which avoided impacts to the office’s entrance.
“I can state, without hesitation, that Stellar is the most professional contractor that I have ever worked with,” said Joseph Lemos, Director of Information Technology at Rulon International. “All questions and concerns were addressed quickly, schedule management was a priority, and the final product looks and performs great.”
Stellar has decades of experience building commercial facilities and warehouses in Northeast Florida and across the world. The firm has constructed more than 10 million square feet of warehouse space in the past 10 years alone.
