Sachse Construction, a Detroit-based premium commercial construction company, has hired Jay McKee as its vice president of commercial operations. McKee will have responsibility for the firm’s overall operations including achieving business objectives, meeting customer commitments, and delivering construction projects on time and within budget. He will report to Steve Berlage, Sachse President & COO.

With more than 20 years of experience, McKee returns to the Michigan market where he spent 13 years. He was most recently with the Bird Construction Group of Toronto, Ontario as bid/project director where he was responsible for a number of major Public-Private Partnership design/build pursuits. Prior to that, McKee served in many roles with Turner Construction Company including operations manager, preconstruction manager, senior project manager, project engineer, and field superintendent.
McKee is ASHE certified, a LEED AP, and a member of CoreNet Global. McKee earned a Bachelor of Applied Science in Civil Engineering from the University of Toronto.

Recent notable projects include renovations to historic downtown Detroit buildings such as “The Albert” at 1214 Griswold, the new additions to the Detroit Athletic Club, and renovations to “The Detroit Institute of Music Education” at 1265 Griswold, Federal Mogul’s new headquarters in Southfield, and tenant coordination of the Mall of San Juan in San Juan, Puerto Rico.
