Shopping malls and street-front retail are suffering high vacancies as the pandemic has reduced foot traffic and e-commerce has taken a large share of business, according to Barclays’ “Future of Real Estate” Report. The report states about 15-17% of US malls will need to be redeveloped, and points out e-commerce leaders’ growing need for warehouse space as a potential replacement.
