Parcel Pending, the nation’s leading provider of innovative package management solutions with 100% Always-On Customer Service®, unveiled its refrigerated BOPIS lockers.
These innovative lockers offer a much-needed solution for retailers that sell temperature-sensitive items like dairy, flowers, pharmaceuticals, meal kits and more. According to the Food Marketing Institute (FMI), 70 percent of U.S. consumers will be grocery shopping online by 2024. This will amount to an estimated $100 billion in sales.
That’s the equivalent of every U.S. household spending $850 online for food and beverages annually. Moreover, FMI and Nielsen report that online grocery spending is projected to make up 20 percent of the total U.S. food and beverage market share by 2025.
“With buy online, pick-up in store (BOPIS) becoming widely adopted by consumers, retailers are looking for solutions that save valuable time for their associates and enhance their customer experience,” explained Lori Torres, CEO of Parcel Pending. “And that’s where we come into play. We designed these refrigerated lockers to preserve perishable online orders until they are ready to be picked up. No one wants warm milk, melted chocolate or wilted flowers. Our lockers make these in-store pickups quick, convenient and easy, which is a win-win for retailers and their customers.”
The way it works is simple. Once an order is fulfilled, the items are placed in one of the Parcel Pending lockers and customers can then pick it up at their convenience without the concern of it perishing. The lockers are cooled between 35 to 44 degrees, allowing temperature-sensitive items to stay fresh longer than allowed by the standard dry ice or gel packs. Customers can rest assured that their products are fresh, and associates can focus
