norament® grano, from nora systems, Inc., was featured in the GreenZone demonstration building recently showcased at Greenbuild Expo 2016, October 5-7 at the Los Angeles Conference Center.
Since 2008, the United States Green Building Council (USGBC) in their community outreach efforts in support of educating communities on the importance of going green. They identify organizations that could benefit from this initiative. This year they worked with Compton YouthBuild, which offers program opportunities in community advocacy, leadership development, career pathways, counseling and construction and vocational training. The structure that was on display at the GreenZone exhibit has been permanently installed on the Compton YouthBuild campus in Compton, California.
“We are pleased to once again donate our flooring to the GreenZone project,” said Tim Cole, vice president of marketing at nora systems, Inc. “norament grano’s ultra-durable hammerblow surface and granular effect will stand up to the building’s heavy foot traffic, including thousands of Greenbuild attendees, while providing comfort underfoot and contributing to sustainability goals.”
As with previous structures, this year’s project demonstrates how building products, like norament grano, are used and installed in real buildings.
The 14 x 45-foot fabricated modular facility is designed to LEED standards and will provide a space for education, workshops and training that support educational and vocational opportunities for people ages 16-24.
In addition to nora flooring, the structure incorporates a number of sustainable strategies, including daylighting, low- or no-VOC paint, overhead LED lighting, rain barrels/cisterns, solar window film and a tankless water heater.
