No Shave November Offers Increased Awareness & Access

During “No Shave November,” Wolverine Building Group is partnering with Trinity Health Grand Rapids Lacks Cancer Center to bring awareness and raise funds to benefit men's health. The Wolverine team will be neglecting their razors to encourage friends and family to donate to Saint Mary’s Foundation.

This effort is the culmination of the months-long men’s health campaign partnership with Trinity Health Grand Rapids focused on prostate cancer. During the month of September, Prostate Cancer Awareness Month, the nearly 200-member team was equipped with knowledge, prevention tips and screening information. In November, they will be voting on who has the best beard, mustache and completing to see who can raise the most money for access to health care.

“We want to continue this important conversation with our team,” stated co-owner and President, Curt Mulder. “Prostate cancer is treatable if detected early, but often there are no noticeable symptoms. It begins with encouraging wellness, regular doctor visits and increasing understanding.”

Other than skin cancer, prostate cancer is the most common cancer in American men. About 1 man in 8 will be diagnosed with prostate cancer during his lifetime. During this partnership with Trinity Health Grand Rapids, Wolverine hopes to decrease stigma and increase connection to wellness. Through segments in the weekly employee newsletter, social media posts, informative sessions at the all-company meeting and opportunities to get involved, Wolverine’s construction leaders will change the face of prostate cancer in west Michigan – literally.

All may join the effort by donating:
