New Orleans has fewer residents but 70 percent more restaurants than it did the day Hurricane Katrina devastated the city in 2005, a sign that the city’s tourist business has made a strong comeback and that rebuilding efforts after the storm attracted higher-income residents to the city, experts say. More than 10 percent of jobs in the New Orleans metro area are in the restaurant industry, higher than the national average of 8.2 percent. Read The New York Times story here.
