Precision Building Construction LLC of Orlando is breaking ground on a new $1.5 million manufacturing headquarters for high-tech firm BOSS Laser at the Rand Yard Commerce Center. It is one of four construction projects that Precision Building Construction (PBC) currently has under contract in the growing Sanford industrial market in north Seminole County.
Over the next year, the new BOSS Laser facility is expected to add 15 new jobs to the company, said BOSS Laser CEO Dan Fox. BOSS Laser was founded in Ocala in 2011. The company produces and sells laser engraving and cutting machines and systems that are used by schools, businesses, jewelers, metal cutters and hobbyists around the world.
The new 18,400-square-foot headquarters will replace a smaller facility BOSS Laser currently uses in Sanford, said Chuck Hobus, president of PBC. It will be located near the intersection of I-4 and Highway 417 (the Central Florida Greenway) and the 417’s planned expansion.
The building also will have a definitive architectural style. “Boss Laser wanted a cost-effective version of a tilt-up look for the building, so we came up with a hybrid style that achieves that look,” Hobus said. “It will have a structural skeleton made of engineered metal with concrete panels tilted up and formed into a façade of one solid panel.”
Realtor David Hammett of CRE Advisors in Winter Park represented both the
landlord and the tenant in securing the land at Rand Yard, the county’s newest stand-alone industrial park.
“This will be the first building in Phase II of Rand Yard East,” Hammett noted. “We are also talking to other companies as well for other built-to-suit opportunities there.” The park offers small and large ready-to-build-on industrial lots.
Larry LaPlant, Vice President of PBC, is overseeing the six-month construction project which includes a complete site preparation and build-out package, as well as underground utilities and paving.
Boss Laser’s CEO selected PBC “for its integrity and quality of workmanship,” said Fox. “The company has a very good organization as well.”
PBC uses innovative, cutting-edge technology combined with highly skilled building services and management for major commercial, medical, retail and industrial projects throughout Central Florida.
