According to the Powering the Future
survey released by DEWALT, a Stanley Black & Decker brand, 53% of
commercial construction contractors feel a lack of skilled workers is a barrier to growing their current business.
The lack of skilled labor threatens to hold back overall industry growth and remains a critical focus for the year ahead:
- 48% of contractors in commercial construction say finding enough skilled workers is one of the biggest challenges they face on the job
- 48% of commercial construction contractors identify training the next generation of workers as the most critical industry focus for 2023 and beyond
To help fill the gap, DEWALT is now accepting applications for the
DEWALT Trades Scholarship, which will award students each with $5,000 grant to pursue a skilled trade educational program during the 2023-24 academic year. Please see the enclosed release for more information about the scholarship program and insights from the DEWALT survey.
October also marks the nationally recognized Careers in Construction month, which aims to increase awareness of opportunities within the construction and building trades industry.
