N.Y. Indigo brings IHG to 5,000 hotels

The 293-room Hotel Indigo Lower East Side New York opened this week as the 5,000th property in InterContinental Hotels Group's stable. IHG had 3,500 hotels when it became a stand-alone company in 2003 and included the Holiday Inn brand. InterContinental Hotels & Resorts, Candlewood Suites, Crowne Plaza Hotels & Resorts and Staybridge Suites are among its other nine brands. Read the USA Today story here

Target to invest in store brands, in-store shops

Target expects to spend $4 billion to $5 billion this year to expand its private-label lineup with new brands, roll out curbside delivery and open 20 stores. The company is also leaning into its in-store shop partnerships with brands like Ulta Beauty, Apple and Starbucks.
