MGAC, a global project management and owners’ representation consultancy, unveiled its new Downtown Los Angeles office at the AON Center, a LEED-Platinum building, at an industry event on Wednesday, May 11. The new space reflects MGAC’s company values of collaboration, innovation, and sustainability, while also symbolizing the firm’s commitment to the City of Los Angeles and the West Coast. The new office opens as Mark Anderson, President and Founder, and Steve Hay, Managing Director, continue to drive the firm’s growth and service offerings in Southern California and throughout the region.
“MGAC’s Los Angeles office embodies the idea of client service, landmark projects, and commitment to the highest corporate office standards,” said Anderson. “We want this space to not only be a strategic enabler for our business, but also a client-facing example of the thoughtful, meticulously planned approach we take on all of our projects.”
Created to serve as both a collaborative, functional office space and a model for the firm’s full suite of service offerings, MGAC’s relocated office brings the firm’s program and project management capabilities to life. Designed by SOM, one of the leading architectural design firms in the world, the office offers sweeping views of Los Angeles and creates a spacious, gallery atmosphere with open ceilings and an art collection featuring an installation by Vera Lutter. With collaboration at the heart of the concept, the space also includes a living room and café with an open circulation plan that empowers a range of working styles and meeting needs.
The office is designed to meet the varied needs of a modern hybrid office plan. With 25 percent of seating open for visiting team members or guests, the 7,000-square foot space maximizes desk areas while utilizing a moderate footprint with a variety of workstyle options. Sustainability is also at the forefront, with 80 percent of the furniture being upcycled, including sophisticated Mid-Century Modern pieces throughout by D ROSE MODWestern Office (Knoll), Tangram (Steelcase), and Peoplespace (Haworth). A key feature of the living room space—in keeping with biophilic design principles—is an active green wall system by Green Oasis. The space is also filled with an abundance of daylight, supported by lighting fixtures by Performance Lighting Systems.
“As we continue to welcome our team back to the office, this is a space that everyone can be proud of and look forward to using,” said Hay. “Our strategy will remain flexible, but we aspire to provide our team members, clients, and industry partners with great shared spaces that are inviting and conducive to whatever the task may be.”
Working on an expedited schedule with General Contractor HITT and MEP Engineer Glumac, the project was completed in just three months, with MGAC working as both the project manager and client.
