Mercedes-Benz Stadium celebrated the installation of its final steel truss, inviting workers of the stadium to sign one of its final supporting beams before it was lifted and bolted in. This ceremony is a significant milestone in the stadium’s progress toward completion, set to open next summer in Atlanta and host marquee events such as 2018 CFP National Championship, 2019 Super Bowl, and 2020 NCAA Men’s Final Four in addition to all Falcons and Atlanta United games.
As a bit of background, Mercedes-Benz Stadium is slated to become one of the world’s marquee stadiums. Atlanta’s ‘Stadium of the Fan’ will include an eight petal retractable roof, and a 63,000 square foot, 360-degree HD Video halo board that hangs from fixed roof portion of the stadium. To go with its innovative technology features, the stadium will also offer the lowest-priced concessions among the four major sports with its Fan First menu featuring $2 and $3 options. It will additionally become the first NFL and MLS stadium to achieve LEED Platinum certification and the first sports facility to achieve all water credits available for LEED.
