Macy’s will grow to eight smaller-format Market by Macy’s stores by the end of the year with the opening of locations in Chicago, and the St. Louis, Missouri and Atlanta markets. The off-mall stores will hold about 20,000 square feet of selling space, compared with 200,000 square feet for a full-line Macy’s department store, and the new Chicago location will be the first to combine Market by Macy’s with the retailer’s off-price Backstage concept.
