Project: Los Angeles International Airport Delta Terminal
Location: Los Angeles, California
Los Angeles International Airport (LAX) serves as a critical hub for Delta Airlines, facilitating over 150 peak-day departures to 55 global destinations. As part of Delta’s recent $2.3 billion Sky Way project, significant upgrades were needed for the back-of-house restrooms in Terminal 2, which had remained untouched for nearly two decades. To address these challenges, Delta turned to Sloan for its ability to meet the airline’s standards for sustainability, ease of maintenance, and improved aesthetics.
“Sloan’s commitment to excellence, reliability, and sustainability aligns perfectly with our company’s values,” said Charles Herrera-Quintero, Facilities Manager, Delta Airlines. “Sloan has helped contribute to a positive experience for our employees and guests.”
A Sustainable Success
The combination of Sloan’s EAF-275 Faucets, SU-1009 Urinals, and SOLIS® 8186 Flushometers proved pivotal in addressing water consumption concerns in the employee restrooms. The EAF-275 Faucets, equipped with double infrared sensors and automatic self-adapting technology, are actively helping Delta reduce restroom water usage. Additionally, the faucets’ solar power supply with battery backup ensures continuous operation, reducing energy dependency.

The SU-1009 Urinals, featuring the SOLIS 8186 Flushometers, are certified by the EPA WaterSense program, providing efficient water use. In addition, each of these fixtures promote environmental responsibility, aligning with Delta’s sustainability goals.
Maintenance Ready for Takeoff
Delta’s specification of Sloan’s SS-3103 Sinks and EHD-501-ECO Hand Dryers is making the lives of maintenance teams much easier. The SS-3103 Sinks are made of white vitreous china with SloanTec® Hydrophobic Glaze, which inhibits germ growth and minimizes cleaning efforts. Additionally, their wall-mounted design with a self-draining deck area prevents water buildup and reduces maintenance time.
Sloan’s EHD-501-ECO Hand Dryers provide touch-free operation, minimizing contact points and the need for frequent servicing. Their energy-efficient design helps lower operational costs, making them an ideal choice for high-traffic areas like LAX Terminal 2.
Upgrades to Aesthetics
The integration of polished chrome finishes across the various fixtures throughout the employee restrooms adds a sleek, uniform look, enhancing the overall visual appeal of the restrooms while improving employee satisfaction. The ST-2459 Water Closets and SOLIS 8111 Flushometers, with their elongated rim and syphon jet flushing system, respectively, provide a modern and hygienic solution as well.
