Just released was a new 42Floors study, analyzing a decade of office construction in the fastest-growing U.S. cities between 2010 and 2020, using data from the latest Census and CommercialEdge.
Even though these 10 years have been a particularly challenging time, the population rose in most U.S. cities and the U.S. office real estate sector has found ways to thrive.
Let me bring out some highlights from the report for Atlanta:
- Atlanta claimed the 13th place in our top 20 fastest-growing U.S. cities, with a population growth of 19% from 2010 through 2020.
- During this time, developers here delivered 9,531,728 square feet of new space to the local office market, representing an 8% market expansion compared to the total figures recorded at the start of 2010.
- At the close of the decade, existing inventory encompassed 122,966,568 square feet of office space, which ranked Atlanta the 5th-largest office market in the country.
- The largest office project to be completed here between 2010 and 2020 was the 720,000-square-foot Coda at Tech Square.
