HDR’s Bew Principal Planner for Education

HDR 052819
Kate Herbolsheimer has joined HDR as principal planner for education. Based in Denver, she will support higher education space planning efforts across the United States.
Herbolsheimer brings 18 years of higher education space planning and programming experience to her new role. Prior to joining HDR, she served as vice president, principal and partner at consultancy Paulien & Associates, where she worked with over 250 campuses throughout the U.S., spearheaded efforts to bring data-informed tools to clients, and developed space planning guidelines to support the 21st century learning landscape.
At HDR, she will work with higher education clients to develop and build consensus around solutions that enhance 21st century learning, reflect the values of the campus and community, and support positive change. She will leverage her experience working with diverse campus communities of many sizes, scales and cultures, including community and technical colleges, private institutions, regional comprehensive universities, flagship universities and Ivy League campuses.
“We are absolutely delighted that Kate is joining our team,” said Ed Vidlak, HDR’s director of education. “Kate’s proven processes will bridge real-world data analytics with a working knowledge of evolving pedagogies, technologies and best practices in supporting achievable but aspirational solutions for our clients.”
Herbolsheimer received a Master of Architecture from the University of Minnesota. She is a recognized expert on planning-related topics for higher education, presenting workshops at forums such as the Society for College and University Planning conference.
