Hanwha Surfaces, the North American subsidiary of international conglomerate Hanwha L&C, announced today that Mark Abbas has been named the company’s new Marketing Director. Abbas brings over 20 years of marketing experience in the architectural and interiors products industry, most recently as marketing director at Surya, a home and commercial accessories leader.
Abbas previously held marketing and business development leadership positions at top design and interior product companies such as Interface, the world’s largest modular carpet manufacturer; TOTO, a global leader in bathroom fixtures; and InReality, a retail customer experience strategy and design firm.
“Hanwha is a forward-thinking company that is strategically planning for a bright future, building upon its momentum in recent years,” says Abbas. “I’m excited to join Hanwha during such a pivotal time of expansion and have the opportunity to impact the growth of the business through a greater emphasis on marketing and the customer experience.”
Abbas joins Hanwha Surfaces as the company is moving significant production to the North American market, including the launch of HanStone Quartz’s state-of-the-art second production line in London, Ontario in September and the launch of the company’s first US production facility for its Hanex Solid Surfaces brand in Texas in July 2018.
Abbas’ unique experience and deep understanding of the needs of residential and commercial interiors product specifiers makes him an ideal addition to the Hanwha team. “As we continue to make a significant investment in the North American market, marketing programs that help build our brand awareness and support our customers’ success will be key to growth and Mark understands how to translate market needs into compelling value propositions for our customers and specifiers,” says Hanwha Surfaces CEO J.K.
