Gripple, one of the leading global manufacturers of suspension solutions for the construction industry, has recently expanded its product portfolio to include seismic adapters for their Spider cast-in-place anchor range for the MEP (Mechanical Electrical Plumbing) market.
The Spider Cast-in-Place Anchor System was developed to save contractors time by incorporating patented “push-in” technology to not only suspend services faster but improve efficiency in BIM modeling layouts by only requiring one insert, regardless of the suspension method (cable or threaded rod).
The Gripple Spider Cast-in-Place Anchor System is a fully approved system. Through ICC ESR-4190, the system is compliant with IBC and multiple state and municipal building codes, including the California Building Code (CBC) and Los Angeles Building Code (LABC).
Gripple has recently launched accessories for the Spider Anchor System that allow it to be used in locations where seismic design is required. With these accessories, the Gripple Spider is now rated for use on even the highest Seismic Design Categories, including C, D, E, and F.
The new Gripple Spider Seismic Adapters also incorporate Gripple’s patented Push-In Toggle technology, allowing the Spider insert to be used as an anchor point for seismic bracing, and wherever services requiring seismic bracing are being suspended.
The Spider has a unique ability to accept any size of either a Gripple Cable Hanger or threaded rod, through its patented Push-In Toggle technology. This allows decisions on how to suspend services to be made later in the project schedule, providing flexibility at the installation stage. In addition, the Spider is available for both wood form and metal deck cast-in-place applications and has a safe working load of up to 3,000 lbs, making it suitable for supporting a wide range of HVAC and MEP services.
Prasad Naik, Senior Engineer at Gripple Inc., explains, “The combination of Gripple’s ICC approval, plus the addition of our new seismic accessories for the Spider cast-in-place insert, gives added reassurance to contractors that they can use the Spider Anchoring System safely and securely in seismic zones.”
Simple to use and procure, the system allows the specification and stocking of one insert to meet all requirements. It is also suitable for a wide range of threaded rod and cable hanger sizes.
Recent research by Gripple revealed that Gripple concrete inserts are one of the best brands in the industry.
