Flooring leader Ecore, a company that transforms reclaimed waste into performance surfaces that make people’s lives better, introduces the latest healthcare product innovation in its Tru Collection – Galaxy rx. The first Ecore product designed specifically for sterile applications, Galaxy rx addresses three of the most common concerns related to healthcare environments – sound, ergonomics and safety.
“Healthcare environments today are challenged to improve patient outcomes in a measureable way,” said Mark Huxta, Ecore director of sales, healthcare. “Reducing critical issues such as injuries from patient falls and extended recoveries from restless nights is essential to accomplishing that goal. Traditional healthcare flooring options cannot address these costly problems – but our Tru Collection of products is designed specifically to provide these benefits, and more.”
The newest addition to Ecore’s Tru Collection of quality performance surface products, Galaxy rx features an innovative 2 mm vulcanized surface fusion bonded to a 5 mm recycled rubber backing. This surface significantly reduces structure-borne sound, giving patients the quiet they need to recover. The overall comfort that two layers of rubber provide also improves ergonomics for patients, residents and staff and lessens the severity of patient or resident injuries after falls, mitigating liability for healthcare facilities. Galaxy rx is available in 12 soothing earth tone colors.
“Galaxy rx rounds out Ecore’s surface offerings for healthcare environments,” said Arthur Dodge III, CEO and president of Ecore. “With this product, we now have the ability to offer floors for sterile applications, giving Ecore the ability to provide surfacing for virtually every area of a hospital, rehab or healthcare facility.”
Ecore’s entire Tru Collection of products – including Galaxy rx, Terrain rx and Forest rx – provides a more ergonomic, quieter and safer healthcare flooring application than traditional resilient surfacing. This is made possible through Ecore’s patented itstru technology, which takes a premium resilient floor covering and fusion bonds it to an Ecore 97% post-consumer rubber backing.
Available in 6-foot-wide rolls, Terrain rx features 5 mm of Ecore’s recycled rubber backing fusion-bonded to a contemporary, modern heterogeneous vinyl sheet from Polyflor. The high-quality, cross-linked polyurethane reinforcement (PUR) provides a low-cost, polish-free maintenance regime for the lifetime of Terrain rx.
Forext rx uses itstru technology to combine 5 mm of Ecore’s recycled rubber backing with Polyflor’s Forest rx, and is designed to reduce the risk of injury associated with falls in healthcare and senior living spaces. Forest rx also offers sound control in environments where quiet is needed.

About Ecore:
Since 1871, Ecore has been transforming reclaimed waste into performance surfaces that make people’s lives better. What started with simple cork closures has evolved into a diverse portfolio of products solving complex problems in applications ranging from playgrounds, weight rooms and turf fields to hospitals, hotels and retail environments. Ecore is driven every day by a simple question, “Can a floor do more?” YES. At Ecore, we create products based on the simple notion that floors should elevate beyond current expectations. Ecore’s energy is focused on the interaction between people and the surface. As a result, we engineer performance well beyond industry standards related to acoustics, ergonomics and safety. Harvesting the unique power from a myriad of waste streams, Ecore creates products that align substantial force reduction with a balanced amount of energy return to create dynamic surfaces that are catered to the individual and the application.
