GA native serves on floating airport USS Carl Vinson

 A native of Cumming, Georgia, serves the U.S. Navy aboard one of the world’s largest warships, the U.S. Navy aircraft carrier, USS Carl Vinson.

Petty Officer 3rd Class Julissa Barrera, a 2016 Forsyth Central High School graduate, joined the Navy five years ago. “I joined the Navy because I wanted to travel and see the world,” said Barrera.

Today, Barrera serves as a retail specialist. Barrera is responsible for all the classified and registered mail that goes on and off the ship.
Barrera relies upon skills and values from lessons learned in Cumming to succeed in the military.
