SpawGlass said the Fort Bend County Public Transportation Facility has been awarded the “APWA Texas Chapter Project of the Year” award in the Transportation $5M – $25M category. The award promotes excellence in the management and administration of public works projects by recognizing the partnership between the managing agency, the consultant, architect, engineer and contractor.

The $21 million transportation facility, which opened in January 2020, serves as a one-stop shop for Fort Bend County’s transit department, including its administrative, operations, maintenance, fuel depot and bus washing functions. The facility includes 18,600-square feet of office space, 28,400-square feet of maintenance bays, covered bus parking, a 7,100-square-foot fuel and washing station, a break area, relaxation lounge and kitchen spaces.

Project partners include SpawGlass, who served as the contractor, Engineering firm Lockwood, Andrews & Newnam, Inc. (LAN), who provided planning, engineering and design services, RdlR Architects as the architect, Huitt Zollars as construction manager, Asakura Robinson as the landscape architect and HDR | Maintenance Design Group for specialty equipment and systems. The Federal Transit Administration and Fort Bend County provided the funding for the project.
