Matern Professional Engineering is pleased to announce that Erica Shay, Director of Marketing & Business Development, has been appointed as Chair of the Lake Eustis Area Chamber of Commerce Board of Directors. Previously, Shay served on the board for five years in various roles including Secretary and Vice Chair.

The Lake Eustis Area Chamber of Commerce is a 501c non-profit organization that advocates on behalf of the business community, located in Central Florida approximately 40 miles northwest of central Orlando. The Chamber serves hundreds of businesses in Lake County with a collective mission to improve the business environment, develop the economy and help build a stronger community.

Our growing partnerships with the UCF Incubator, SBDC, LEAD, 1 Million Cups, Lake-Sumter State College and Lake Technical College are helping us offer more to our entrepreneurs and established businesses alike.” said Shay who is also a local resident. We have such amazing talent in our area and we are excited to help them develop and establish businesses here. Our board’s influence allows us to be a strong voice for workforce development and help shape the future of our region.”

At Matern Professional Engineering, Shay leads business development and marketing efforts and has been at the firm for nearly two decades. In her role, she manages business development efforts, public relations, and RFP submissions. In addition, Shay develops and oversees the company’s branding efforts and various graphic projects such as website design, brochures, presentations and submittal designs for Matern. As part of the leading team of managers for the firm, Erica is now spearheading the creation of an internal communications committee for the newly converted Employee owned (ESOP) firm.

In addition to her efforts on behalf of the Lake Eustis Area Chamber of Commerce, Shay also volunteers her time with Central Florida charitable organizations such as Pathlight Home, Head Start, A Gift for Teaching, Apple Mart, Hand in Hand, One Heart for Women & Children and Harbor House.

Shay has been recognized with a Society for Marketing Professional Services (SMPS) Rising Star award and served on the SMPS Board for several years. Shay holds technical writing, web design certifications from Broward College, and is a certified Yoga instructor.
