Lighting by Gregory Chief Lighting Designer, Clifford Starr has recently been elected the new Chapter President of the Designers Lighting Forum of New York (DLFNY). Starr’s presidential appointment comes after serving a 2 year term as Vice President and a DLFNY board member for 5 years. Starr was recently elected to the position during the association’s annual vote on leadership.

Starr is succeeding Lana Lenar, principal at zeroLUX lighting design.
“To carry its mission forward, the DLFNY identifies and promotes members of the lighting and design community in the New York metro area to lead and evolve the organization and Cliff is an ideal choice. With his long standing relationships and knowledge of the NYC design community, Cliff will continue to expand membership and deliver informative and insightful lighting programs.” remarked Lanar. “Cliff promises to be a great president for our organization.”
With over two decades of experience in lighting, Clifford Starr serves as Lighting by Gregory’s Chief Designer.  Cliff has over thirty years of expertise in lighting design and project management in residential, commercial, hospitality and retail applications.  His extensive background in electrical, engineering and degrees in both hotel and restaurant management, provides customers with a unique perspective and insight from design thru installation. His work has been covered by numerous industry publications including The New York Times, Newsday and House Beautiful and he has served clientele from Bermuda to Boston, with over 1500 residential and commercial projects focused in the northeast region from NY, NJ, CT and PA.
As a seasoned lighting designer and active industry professional, Cliff is instrumental in the support of industry events and education. He is an active member of the Illuminating Engineering Society of North America (IESNA), American Society of Interior Designers (ASID) and currently serves as President on the Board of Directors of the Designers Lighting Forum of New York and a LEDucation committee member. Cliff is a seasoned presenter and provides educational sessions and training in the Lighting by Gregory showroom to further support the education of lighting, architect and design students from various universities throughout NYC.  Cliff also provides invaluable feedback in the selection and procurement of the latest and most innovative products to be selected for display in the 8,500 square foot showroom that has made Lighting by Gregory a household name in the NY/ NJ metropolitan area.
“Being actively involved in the design industry and supporting the educational and networking events is critical to remain engaged in this industry,” says Starr. “I volunteer my time because I feel it’s important to give back to community. One of my goals as President is to encourage the chapter’s growth in the design profession by increasing promotion of our education and networking events by expanding our reach to the design community.”
