U.S.-based design, planning, architecture, interiors, and graphics firm DDG will begin work on its first major project in Russia.
The Armada Capital Orenburg is envisioned as a mixed-use development comprised of middle-to-upper income shopping mall, a hotel, and, in the future, a residential tower in Orenburg, southeast of Moscow.
“The shopping mall will have an approximate gross building area of 89,000 square meters (nearly 915,000 square feet) and will feature a DIY and a supermarket as its two primary anchors,” explains DDG Chairman and CEO Ahsin Rasheed.
According to Rasheed, the mall will also include cinemas, a food court, numerous restaurants and cafes, and specialty retail sub-anchors, such as electronics and housewares stores. Space planning and a leasing plan for the mall have already been configured and a detailed design is now underway.
“Everyone at DDG is very excited to be undertaking our first major retail project in Russia,” says Rasheed. “While we have been involved in the area and active in organizations such as the Russian Green Building Council, Armada marks our first real entry into the Russian market. I fully expect it will not be our last.”
Rasheed points out that from its roots in 1972 until today, DDG has secured contracts in more than 53 countries worldwide. With nearly 200 countries in the world, though, he notes that DDG “still has many languages to learn. Our growing global reputation and landmark international intern program promise to keep us crossing boundaries for many years to come.”
DDG is recognized as an industry leader, with a reputation for producing quality, innovative, and visionary design for more than three decades. Among the company’s many highly successful, commercial endeavors are National Harbor outside of Washington, DC, Istanbul, Turkey’s Istinye Park, Pondok Indah in Jakarta, Indonesia, and Easton Town Center near Columbus, Ohio.
