Construction Specialties (CS) has long been a leader in the louver market and continues to live up to its promise to make buildings better. Addressing form and function, CS is proud to introduce its Perform Louvers, delivering great performance without the louvered look.

โ€œDesigners are drawn to solutions that provide performance without sacrificing aesthetics,โ€ said Sean Carver, CS senior business development manager. โ€œThe new CS Perform Louvers provide the air movement, security and sight-screening performance of standard louvers, covered by a modern perforated aluminum skin. They provide unparalleled air intake and water-protection performance.โ€

The new Perform Louver line can integrate into any curtain wall system and is available in storm- resistant models. The perforated skin is engineered to work in harmony with interior louver blades. CS is the first and only manufacturer to offer a fully concealed louver system that has been tested in accordance with AMCA 500-L standards for air performance and water penetration.

Perform Louver Line

  • Model PL-3600: This 5-1/4″ deep system is ideal for curtainwall applications
  • Model PL-4080: A 7-1/2โ€ louver with a perforated face and horizontal flat blade type
  • Model PL-5700: This 7-1/2โ€ vertical louver has a chevron blade type; perforated holes areavailable in 3/8โ€ and 1โ€
  • Model PL-5800: A 7-1/2โ€ vertical louver with a perforated face and a chevron blade type, thismodel is patent pending, and has been tested in accordance with and passes AMCA 550.

Perform Louvers are available in Kynar and powder coat, pearlescent and metallic or in custom colors.

The Perform Louver, and the design flexibility it affords, figured prominently into the facฬงade design at Rose Hill, a residential building in the NoMad neighborhood of Manhattan. Developed by Rockefeller Group, the desired aesthetic was โ€œold New York, but modernizedโ€ meaning a building thatโ€™s elegant and glamorous but also flexible for modern living. The tall, mid-block.

building presented a unique challenge as to where to put the louvers and how to make them fit the design aesthetic. With buildings on either side, and the need to preserve space for windows, project designer Charles Thomson, LEED AP and senior associate at CetraRuddy, located the louvers at entry level, near the occupant entrance.

โ€œWe needed to design a way to make sure the mechanical components would be hidden, even to the most discerning eye,โ€ said Thomson. โ€œIn some ways we were trying to hide the louvers, but you could also say we turned it into an opportunity to emphasize the detail at the top and bottom of the building.โ€

A chevron pattern served as a leading design theme, from the railings to the crown of the building. To ensure the louvers blended in, they were covered with a custom, perforated metal screen that coordinated with the crown design.
