CEO of Startup Cloud Apartments Speaks at 2022 WOM

Curtis Wong, Founder and CEO of Cloud Apartments, a technology company that is creating a new brand of modular apartments for modern renters, recently spoke at the 2022 World of Modular Annual Convention and Tradeshow. This year’s 39th annual World of Modular event was held from April 25 to April 28, 2022, at the La Cantera Resort & Spa in San Antonio, Texas.

World of Modular, hosted by the Modular Building Institute (MBI), provides professionals in the commercial modular building industry “a place to network, exchange ideas, learn from experts, discuss issues, promote new products, and receive well-deserved awards and industry recognition.” Curtis was able to share his modular building expertise alongside other high-profile speakers, by explaining how modular construction has only reached about half of its potential in its current form and the steps needed to evolve to its next iteration.

During his talk at World of Modular, Curtis spoke about the current limitations of modular construction today and how productized construction can lead to a future where modular housing becomes a new form of luxury. A new form of luxury that can be built at half the cost of a conventionally constructed apartment building.

According to Harvard University's State of the Nation's Housing 2020 Report, 37.1 million households were "housing cost-burdened," spending 30% or more of their income on rent. Curtis, Founder and CEO of Cloud Apartments, is hoping to change this by simultaneously reducing the cost of construction and improving the quality of new housing so that every family can afford a beautiful and affordable home.

Cloud Apartments will launch its first apartment in 2024 and is currently seeking partnerships with developers to participate in its feasibility study.
