One of the world’s biggest producers of carbon fiber, Tokyo-based Toray Industries, has announced it plans to build a $1 billion facility in South Carolina’s Spartanburg County. The facility will supply materials for Boeing’s 787 aircraft manufacturing plant in North Charleston, S.C. Toray considers the move a key expansion because the new plant will have proximity to major customers, both in the United States and in Latin American markets. Read The State story here
