The partnership will introduce the thermally modified wood portfolio to architects and designers as a sustainable alternative to other standard wood products. Arbor Wood Co. uses high heat and a nitrogen rich environment to alter the cellular structure of wood and bring the moisture content to an optimal level. The result of this process is a product resistant to the elements with an increased durability and lifetime. Arbor Wood Co., based in Duluth, MN, is FSC-certified and sources all of their timber, primarily ash and pine, from sustainably-managed forests within the US. CaraGreen, as a distribution, marketing and sales partner for Arbor Wood Co., will add the products to its existing surfacing portfolio and promote the brand on the east coast.

Unlike some other modified wood products, Arbor Wood Co. does not add resin or chemical agents to the product, making it completely biodegradable at the end of its life. Outdoors, Arbor Wood is used as high-performance decking, siding, and furniture. Indoors, it works well as dimensional lumber, millwork and custom profiling. In all applications, the material is easy to clean and maintain, requiring little to no maintenance over its 30+ year lifespan. Planks are available in several profiles, including tongue and groove and hidden fastener, and several stain colors. Their burned and brushed finish, the BRNSH collection is a very popular, modern-looking surface with a charred and textured appearance.
