Big-D Pacific, a subsidiary of Big-D Construction, recently announced the permanent hiring of Saylee Khawale, a current intern who will join the company as its newest full-time project engineer.

Khawale brings extensive industry experience to Big-D Pacific. During her time in India she worked as an architect for four years and a BIM specialist for one year just before coming to the U.S. in 2020. In those positions she worked on commercial, industrial and residential projects ranging anywhere from $1 million to $14 million. 

Khawale graduated with a master’s degree in environmental engineering in 2018 and a bachelor’s degree in architecture in 2015 from Savitribai Phule Pune University in India. Currently, Khawale is continuing her education at Cal State East Bay as a student in the construction management master’s program where she will graduate later this summer. 

“We’ve been very impressed with Saylee since day one,” said Ken Mitchell, president of Big-D Pacific. “We couldn’t be happier to bring her on board permanently. Her team-focused mentality and fresh perspective are admirable and will be huge assets to our team.”

In her new role as a project engineer, Khawale will be responsible for supporting the project team in performing the technical aspect of managing the construction project—primarily assisting the project manager with ensuring on-time, within the budget, and on-schedule project completion.
