Beatty Development Group today announced that Jody L. Clark has been appointed chief operating officer. As COO, Clark will be responsible for overseeing the operational management of the firm, including asset management, development, leasing and finance. Michael Beatty, President and Founder of Beatty Development, will continue his role in setting the strategic direction of the company and leading new business development.
“As we continue to pursue development projects that contribute to the economic growth and vitality of Baltimore, Jody’s 30 years of experience in real estate development and corporate leadership will be a tremendous asset to the firm and to our clients,” said Beatty.
Throughout her career, Clark has worked with many of the region’s largest and most successful developers, including The Rouse Company, General Growth Properties, Legg Mason and Hannon Armstrong. At The Rouse Company, Clark oversaw the leasing and operations for more than 12 million square feet of retail, office, industrial and warehouse assets and worked on numerous acquisitions, dispositions and development projects. After the acquisition of The Rouse Company by General Growth Properties, Clark served as vice president of development, and oversaw the initial redevelopment efforts at South Street Seaport in New York City, as well as regional malls in New Jersey and Staten Island.
In 2006, Clark accepted the position of vice president, director of global real estate with Legg Mason, one of the largest financial asset managers in the world. During her six years with Legg Mason, Clark orchestrated a repositioning of their entire corporate portfolio of office space around the world and oversaw the development of the Legg Mason Tower in Harbor East. For the past three years, she has been leading commercial origination for Hannon Armstrong, a REIT that focuses on energy finance.
Clark holds a Bachelor of Arts in Sociology from Kalamazoo College in Kalamazoo, Michigan and a Master of Business Administration from Loyola College, now Loyola University, in Baltimore, Maryland.

Beatty Development Group is also working on a mixed-use development adjacent to Johns Hopkins University’s Charles Village campus.
