A wide range of polycarbonate sheet grades manufactured by Bayer MaterialScience LLC recently received an evaluation report (ESR# 2728) from ICC Evaluation Service (ICC-ES), providing evidence that the polycarbonate sheets meet code requirements. Building officials, architects, contractors, specifiers, designers and others utilize ICC-ES Evaluation Reports to provide a basis for specifying, using or approving Makrolonยฎ polycarbonate and Hygardยฎ polycarbonate sheets in construction projects under the International Building Code (IBC).
Specifically, Makrolonยฎ polycarbonate grades GP, SL, AR, UV, and Mak 25; as well as Hygardยฎ polycarbonate sheet grades CG375, CG500, CG750, BR750, BR1000, BR1250, MS1250, EX250, EX525, EX1100 and EX1300 were included in the ICC-ES evaluation report.
ICC-ES President Shahin Moinian explains why ICC-ES Evaluation Reports are so important. โ€œBayer MaterialScience can now reference the evaluation report to assure building officials and the building industry that the product meets I-Code requirements,โ€ Moinian said. โ€œBuilding departments have a long history of using evaluation reports, and ICC-ES operates as a technical resource with the highest quality of product review for the building department. Final approval of building products is always in the hands of the local regulatory agency.โ€
ICC-ES thoroughly examined Bayer MaterialScienceโ€™s product information, test reports, calculations, quality control methods and other factors to ensure the
product is code-compliant. โ€œWe are very pleased to have several grades of our polycarbonate sheet products evaluated by ICC-ES,โ€ said Dr. Ted Trautman, technology director โ€“ polycarbonate sheet products, North America, Bayer MaterialScience LLC. โ€œThe high-quality standards of the ICC-ES evaluation offer peace of mind to specifiers in the building industry who are looking to use Makrolonยฎ polycarbonate sheet, as it is an approved product that complies with the requirements of the codes.โ€
