Amazon will open a new grocery store in Los Angeles’ Woodland Hills neighborhood next year, one that won’t compete with its more than 500 Whole Foods Markets stores or its Amazon Go cashierless locations. Amazon hasn’t shared details about how the new format will be different or whether it plans to expand to more locations, but it has signed upward of a dozen new Los Angeles-area leases, and also secured properties in Philadelphia and Chicago.
