Arizona Builders Alliance (ABA), the state’s leading construction industry association, announces Jacob’s Hope as the recipient of its annual Community Service Project. The ABA will provide free construction and renovation services to support the nonprofit’s mission.

Jacob’s Hope, a Mesa-based nonprofit, is a specialty care nursery providing 24-hour medical care to substance-exposed newborns and prenatal support to expectant mothers on the path to recovery. The nursery provides crucial care to substance-exposed newborns and prenatal support to mothers in need in Arizona.
The organization’s mission is to ensure a safe and nurturing environment for both mother and child during this critical phase of their lives. Jacob’s Hope provides 24-hour care to substance-exposed newborns and offers support to mothers on the path to recovery, promoting a happy and healthy life.
The ABA’s project will enhance the nonprofit’s facility at 1150 N Country Club Dr, Mesa, AZ 85201. Renovations are set to begin immediately. These improvements will enable Jacob’s Hope to expand their services and care for more vulnerable infants in the Phoenix metropolitan area.
“By selecting Jacob’s Hope for our Community Service Project, we’re investing in the health and future of Arizona’s most vulnerable newborns,” says Kim Davids, CEO and President of Arizona Builders Alliance. “This project showcases how the construction industry can make a significant impact on critical community needs and embodies the spirit of community service that drives our industry and demonstrates the positive change we can achieve when we work together.”
The renovation will involve multiple trades, including painting, flooring repairs, electrical work, and HVAC upgrades. ABA member companies will contribute their expertise to these improvements. These enhancements will create a more comfortable and efficient environment for the infants and staff at Jacob’s Hope.

A Project of Hope

The Community Service Project, spearheaded by ABA’s Leadership Development Forum, showcases the association’s dedication to social responsibility. This initiative empowers ABA’s 350+ member companies to leverage their expertise for the benefit of the local community. Employees from these firms actively volunteer their time, while companies donate essential resources and supplies. From providing construction materials to offering specialized skills, ABA members invest significantly in enhancing the local community through this project.
“At Jacob’s Hope we work with limited space, hampering our ability to care for more infants in need,” says Lyndsey Steele, Associate Director at Jacob’s Hope. “This generous support from the Arizona Builders Alliance will significantly enhance our ability to care for substance-exposed infants and their families. The free renovations will increase our capacity and create a more nurturing environment, directly benefiting the babies, their families, and even our staff.
The project is set to begin in April 2025, with completion expected by the end of June 2025. ABA members will volunteer their time and resources to ensure the success of this impactful community initiative.
ABA is the top trade association for contractors in Arizona that exists to make its 350
member companies and the construction industry more prosperous through education,
networking, business development, and advocacy on the state and federal level. The ABA is an
alliance of the Associated Builders & Contractors and the Associated General Contractors of America – Building Chapter. Celebrating its 30th year in 2024, the ABA is proud to service the
construction industry through advocacy, education, and networking opportunities in the state
of Arizona.
