Westwood Contractors announces the addition of Michael Roop as Director of Operations, a role he officially assumes on October 4th. From its headquarters in Fort Worth, TX, Mr. Roop will be directly responsible for supervising the company’s project management team and the general field superintendent. His key accountabilities include developing and monitoring operations, project management, field, administrative processes and procedures, and ensuring compliance. Mr. Roop will also play a central role in advancing the company’s new technologies to support efficient and consistent process execution across the organization to ensure business and client objectives are achieved.
Mr. Roop has 27 years of experience in the construction and holds a Bachelor of Applied Science degree in Construction Engineering Technologies from the University of North Texas. Throughout his professional career he has successfully led a variety of retail and hospitality projects as well as mixed-use developments.
Most recently, he served as a Design & Construction Manager at Bridgestone Retail Operations, LLC (BSRO) overseeing projects with construction valued up to $4,000,000 in the Western United States. He was responsible for the construction rollout program for 20 new stores per year as well as the renovation and maintenance program for over 145 stores per year. Roop’s involvement included design, construction management, site selection, bidding, as well as contractor/developer selection and award. In addition, he was involved as the Lead Construction Manager for BSRO’s Acquisition Programs up to $50,000,000. Previously, as Director of Construction for Trademark Property Company, he was responsible for managing all aspects of construction from predevelopment to complete tenant finish-out for large retail development projects up to 1.5 million square-feet and more than $200,000,000. Construction included power centers, town centers, mixed-use, big box, and pad sites.
