Brintons & KGA Design Las Vegas new convention center

Caesars Forum 111520

According to the KGA Design team, the overall project concept was to design a convention center where people can effectively connect with each other, during meetings and/or social events, while also remaining connected to nature. This ‘outdoors in’ trend, often referred to as biophilic design, drives specifier decisions from lighting elements to wall coverings and all the way down to the wool-rich Axminster carpet.
Caesar’s Forum exhibits 300,000 square feet of flexible meeting space. This new space includes two 108,000 square-foot ballrooms, two 40,000 square-foot ballrooms and top-of-the-line boardrooms. This equates to 55,000 square yards of Brintons Axminster–that’s enough to carpet eight and a half football fields!
The custom flooring, using eleven distinct designs and a palette of nearly 50 colors, carries the biophilic narrative through all of the new Forum’s public spaces, ballrooms and meeting spaces. Brintons Americas Vice President of Design, Leah Jack, declares “This has been my all-time favorite project to work on, because it was such a true team collaboration. Blending the design narrative from KGA together with the Caesar’s signature branding into product that satisfies all parties involved is the epitome of success in my eyes.”
While focusing on creating a modern and timeless palette, the KGA team partnered with Brintons to create a soothing ambiance for visitors to connect with nature. Through carpet this meant weaving themes from the Earth’s four seasons into both of the world’s largest pillar-less ballrooms–coined as “Midnight Moon” and “Sunkissed”.
Leah explains the biophilic elements in each of the ballrooms: “In Midnight Moon we have abstract patterns incorporating foliage reminiscent of the summer and winter seasons. It is like looking out over water as shadows are cast from nearby tress and branches. Sunkissed is also abstracted but more floral with petals and tree bark reminding us of spring and autumn. Lots of atmosphere and lots of texture in these patterns!”
These concepts come together in the interior’s public spaces where a distinct nod to the Caesar’s brand is incorporated through subtle Romanesque elements and interlocking circles.
The boardroom carpets complement the rest of the carpet’s graphic styles in a fresh new way–by featuring graffiti-esque words sure to bring people together. Visitors can spot exclamations like empower, collaborate, and experience in the bold inset rugs.
“It was fun working with Brintons Americas’ Leah Jack! She helped us develop our concept design to reality. She is detail oriented and efficient with providing paper strike-offs and samples when we needed them for presentations.” – Rayito Carrillo
