Nearly 200 of 339 metropolitan areas saw an increase in construction employment between March 2012 and March 2013, according to an analysis of data by the Associated General Contractors of America (AGC). However, AGC is concerned that increase could stall if the Highway Trust Fund dries up. This “shows just how hard hit the industry was during the downturn and how vulnerable it is to disruptions, such as a potential lapse in federal highway funding,” AGC reported.
