Dollar General plans life-cycle program, new stores, fewer SKUs

Dollar General has big plans for 2014, including a “life-cycle remodeling” program for its smallest stores, a renewed focus on SKU productivity, a reduction in costs to allow for reinvestment and the establishment of 700 new stores. The company says it will reduce costs by remodeling small stores in keeper locations and that it will eliminate 300 SKUs from the health and beauty category. Read the Supermarket News story here
